The Wind-up Blog is a newsletter devoted to Japanese literature in translation. Its title is shamelessly stolen from The Wind-up Bird Chronicle, a masterpiece by Haruki Murakami.

This blog is run by David S. Wills, who wrote the book Murakamian Magical Realism and Psychological Trauma. The posts here are mostly about Murakami but also cover other Japanese authors. If you subscribe (it’s free!), you will receive news, essays, and reviews.
