I recently made this checklist of all the books Haruki Murakami has published in English. It also includes a few books about Murakami by other people.
I designed it using the colour scheme from some of his novels along with a similar font.
The dates are when the books were published in English but the order is determined by when he wrote them. For example, we got Norwegian Wood in 1989 but it was written after Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, which was published in 1991. I chose to do that mostly because I believe the sequencing of his novels is very important. (That’s why I recommend you read them chronologically!)
Also, some of his books have been re-translated. I did not want to make this overly confusing, so I only included the date of the original English-language publication. Thus, there is no mention of the latest one: End of the World and Hard-Boiled Wonderland.
So… How many of these have you read? I’ve read all of them except for The Existentialist Vision of Haruki Murakami. I’ll try to get a copy so I can complete the list!
Thank you it looks great but if you want to be thorough then you are missing
The Strange Library is a short story that has been published by itself with illustrations
The Murakami Diary 2009
The Murakami Diary 2020
Kaho is his latest short story that is not part of any collection atm
And if we are considering books about Murakami then the Murakami Manga Stories would also be a fun addition.
That's all I can think of for now, but I'll get back to you if I miss something. I really appreciate the colour btw, red is my favourite :)
Thank you so much, it is much appreciated,
Inge
