Below is a list of all the songs mentioned in each of Murakami’s fourteen novels. (These are the ones published in English as of July 2023. It does not include the recently published novel, The City and its Uncertain Walls, which is only available in Japanese.)
These are songs, not albums. For example, in his first novel, Murakami mentions Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline. This is not included below and I will not list all the songs from that album. These are only songs explicitly mentioned, not just alluded to.
They are all listed in the order that they appear. Songs mentioned several times in a book will be listed once but may be repeated in another book.

*Nat King Cole never actually recorded “South of the Border.” Murakami inserted into two of his novels. It was possibly a means of undermining the apparent reality of the surface text, much in the way that his use of magical realism has done.
